Hi, I'm Koya

2020 has been nothing short of “I didn’t see that coming” moments. And we’re only 6 months in! However, no matter what the year brings, I will continue to preach the importance of tackling fear-based thinking with love, including of course, a healthy approach to wellness.

This year, many of us have been spending less time commuting, traveling and socializing, leaving us more time at home doing our own DIY self-care approaches! And one healing modality I’m a big fan of is the use of CBD oil.

I know there are a lot of questions around CBD: Is it marijuana? Is it legal? Will I get high? What are the benefits of it?

Well for starters – no, yes, no, and there are so many!

Read below to find out why CBD oil has risen in popularity and how you can start getting in on the fun this weekend.

What Is CBD Oil?

CBD (short for cannabidiol) is a naturally occurring cannabinoid that comes from the cannabis plant. However, CBD oil does not contain THC, which is what is responsible for the getting high feeling that you experience from marijuana. The oil is made by extracting CBD from the flowers and buds of the hemp plant and then diluting it with a carrier oil.

One of my favorite CBD oil is from Joy Organics

Benefits

The benefits are far ranging and include:

  • Pain management, including managing chronic pain
  • Reducing anxiety, depression and PTSD symptoms
  • Lowering blood pressure and increases heart health
  • Protecting the brain from diseases such as Alzheimer’s and dementia
  • Treating acne and other inflammatory issues

Given the stress that many report feeling this year, it’s particularly useful to incorporate CBD oil as a means to reduce anxiety and lower stress. The body responds to CBD similarly to how it responds to anti-depressants, only CBD oil is more natural.

Laws

CBD oil with less than .3 percent THC is legal at a federal levels but there are still some state-level laws that may impact you purchasing.

Generally, CBD oil is considered safe. However, given there are side effects and potential interactions with other medications you’re taking – make sure to consult your doctor if you’re thinking about taking.

As many people have come to learn over the past few months, what you put in, on and around your body will enable you to better handle all the surprises life throws your way. CBD oil is a great addition to your 2020 self-care regimen. If you’re already using, I’d love to hear what’s working for you!
