Hi, I'm Koya

There are a number of ancient practices that are being rediscovered and used by many today. One of those practices that I want to share with you today is called, yoni steaming.

What is it? Yoni steaming, also known as vaginal steaming or v-steaming, is a practice that involves exposing steam (typically from a pot of water containing a blend of herbs and plants) to the exterior of your vagina.

This ancient practice goes back many years in history and has been used by women with the intent to reconnect with their bodies, and use the power of plants and herbs to heal their cycle.

According to Vibrant Souls, some benefits of yoni steaming include: reducing bloating and pain associated with menstrual cycles, regulating irregular or absent menstrual cycles, promoting faster healing of the reproductive system after birth, removing toxins from the womb and body, and much more.

It is believed that the gentle heat that is exposed to the exterior of the vagina works to increase circulation to the vulva so that the bloodstream can pick up the oils from the herbs in order for the reproductive system, including the uterus, to reap their benefits.

Because yoni steaming involves exposing warm steam to such a sensitive part of the body, it is inevitable that people have some concerns. You may be wondering, “how safe is this?”

As with any practice, it is very important that you take extreme precaution and make sure that you are very careful with how you proceed with it. With that being said, it is important that you make sure the steam coming from the blend of water and herbs is not too hot before exposing your body to it.

This is a practice that can be done in the comfort of your own home and even at spa centers. No matter where you decide to practice yoni steaming, ensure that all the equipment being used has been thoroughly cleaned as well. This should also be avoided if you are pregnant or during the full flow of your menstrual cycle.

According to Yinova Center, it is suggested that dry, fresh and organic herbs and plants should be used. Some of these include: calendula, basil, rosemary, mugwort, and wormwood. Each plant retains different benefits that you can create a blend with depending on your body’s needs.

Yoni steaming is a practice that holds such a deep, generational significance. It allows women to be able to connect with their bodies in a holistic way and promote reproductive health. Whenever your body is in need of detoxification and healing, perhaps yoni steaming can give your body exactly what it needs.
