Hi, I'm Koya

Have you heard of the practice of Nauli Kriya? You may have seen this unique, or some may argue, strange, practice shared around on Instagram or on other social platforms.

All judgement aside, this practice is one that is full of incredible benefits for your body, however, it is one that should be carefully practiced.

So what is it?

Nauli Kriya is a yogic cleansing exercise that involves a rolling movement of the abdominal muscles. It is an advanced technique that purifies the internal organs, boosts the digestive system, and strengthens your abdominal muscles.

You may be wondering why this isn’t a commonly practiced exercise in yoga classes for such a powerful and rare yoga technique and that is because it should be practiced under certain circumstances. This is advanced, takes time to master and should be carefully practiced under a skilled yoga teacher.

This is a practice that has wonderful benefits for your body. Here are some to name a few:

It aids and regulates digestion

Due to the massaging of the internal organs of this exercise, Nauli Kriya helps clear any blockages and toxins that may be causing you to have any indigestion or constipation.

Do not practice Nauli Kriya while dealing with any of those symptoms as the practice can worsen those symptoms and cause discomfort to your body.

Activates the Solar Plexus, Sacral and Root Chakras

All three of these chakras are located in the areas that Nauli Kriya directly targets in the body.

There are many ways to awaken and activate your chakras, yet Nauli Kriya gives the upper abdomen, lower abdomen and base of the spine special attention that will help clear blocked energy to reveal a revitalizing sensation throughout your entire body.

Strengthens and cleanses the lungs

During this practice, breath work is very important to retain. Your focus on your breathing while performing this practice will help you maintain strength and elasticity in your lungs while also cleansing them out as well.

Helps with Menstrual Disorders

Nauli Kriya increases blood circulation within the body and provides a massage to your abdomen which can help reduce the intensity of period pain and promote a normal functioning of your ovaries.

This should not be practiced during your period as it can worsen and intensify inflammation and bloating.

I love to start my morning off with this practice as I feel a surge of energy take over my entire body when I’m finished. My mind is clear and I feel prepared to take on the day ahead of me.

While this exercise isn’t for everyone, I encourage you to take your time and give it a try to see how your mind and body enjoy it.

On my IGTV, I’ve created a video on 5 Steps to Learning #NauliKriya for Beginners! Click here to check it out. After practicing, please share your experience with me. Remember to relax, take your time and reap the benefits that this exercise has to offer.
